Drama reigns in this modern dining room thanks to Italian chairs, a wide stripe etched on the glass table, and, of course, the striking red-and-white checked rug.

For this client's dining area, the room itself was left simple and clean, so the visual focus became the dynamic furniture pieces selected, starting with the Italian wenge wood table that is surrounded by white leather dining chairs. An original Gehry accent chair was placed in the corner to act as an art piece. A full-length drape warms up the feel of this simple dining room.

The custom frosted glass partition was designed to allow convenient access to the kitchen for serving but allows the space to be closed off for dining too.

Modular Arts wall panels and a built-in planter are a dynamic back drop for this chic dining room. Fluorescent lights, bamboo floor and custom table and chairs made of FSC wood and stained with AFM Safecoat turn this green dining room into a show stopper.

This bachelor pad's dining room is the ultimate in lounging with a sofa as seating. An oversized mirror allows the occupants to watch as they party the night away. Plus, the custom dining table is made of eco-friendly wood (FSC) and stain (AFM Safecoat).

Mediterranean Dining Rooms

With views of the pool area and desert hills beyond the chairs at this breakfast setting feature coordinating fabrics that are colorful yet durable for frequent use. The iron chandelier is switched with a dimmer for adjustable lighting at night.

This Spanish style dining room features a custom designed dining table with coordinating chairs and fabrics. The iron chandelier is wired with a dimmer control to provide a soft warm glow for intimate dinners.

This eat-in kitchen, complete with a built-in window seat, is adjacent to the formal dining room. It is separated by pocket doors with custom fretwork panels.

Subdued fabrics were chosen to complement the strong architectural lines found in the dining table and chairs.

Old World stone and a still life painting serve as the focal points in this dining room. The large leather chairs pick up the dark cabinet’s color, while the wooden table’s finish complements the nearby kitchen cabinets.

This elegant dining room features an eggplant-and-yellow color palette and specially designed drapes for the arched windows.

Eclectic Dining Rooms

Asian, African and even art deco influences can be seen in this eclectic-style dining room.

Red walls combine with animal-print-inspired European fabrics, and a 22-foot dining table sets the stage for a client who loves to entertain. The room features custom curved sofas (designed by Jessica Hall Associates) at either end of the burl and mahogany table and an onyx countertop illuminated from beneath.

To maximize space, the cabinetry is designed with sliding doors instead of doors that swing out. Teak wood was chosen for its warm tones and to work with the existing furniture.

Honed flooring and creative window treatments add artistic uniqueness to this remodeled condo space.

This worldly dining room mixes old and new design styles. Navy walls and ebony hardwood floors give the room a modern feel, while the rustic dining table and African Kuba window treatment provide eclectic charm. A bench on the traffic side of the table gives the space an open look.

This eclectic mixture of antique pieces incorporating the art deco style brightens the dining table and gives it a fun yet formal look.

The walls were painted tones of rich red and butter, adding instant warmth and elegance to the space. To keep things from becoming too serious, we used window treatments with playful dressmaker detailing. It's unexpected details like this that add an air of fun and casualness and keep a formal dining room from looking too formal.

History and modernity combine in this elegant dining room. The modern framed intaglios bring freshness, while a 19th century French pewter chandelier gives the room an air of antiquity.
